MESSAGE - To Everyone Starting ShinKenDo JuJutsu
Welcome to ShinKenDo JuJutsu
"Our JuJutsu techniques are designed for the everyday individual. Our approach is non-sport oriented and welcoming to all. We do not train with traditional weaponry, nor do we engage in hard sparring or pressure-tested fighting that can lead to injury. We emphasize a martial art that operates within legal and ethical boundaries—practical self-defense for real-world situations.
Our training respects personal comfort and safety. We do not emphasise extensive ground fighting in positions that may be embarrassingly uncomfortable. We dispel the myth that "all fights go to the ground" by teaching you to stay on your feet and in control. There is no emphasis on extreme strength, flexibility, or cardio requirements that would exclude the majority. Here, there is only the improvement of oneself—whatever your purpose for training may be".
A Martial Art That Is For Everyone
" We recognize that martial arts are for everyone.
The public comes in all shapes and sizes, with different levels of flexibility, different ages, different body types, natural strengths, and areas for growth. Here, various members, from children to the elderly, enjoy our jujutsu in a limited time in addition to their busy work lives, school, and raising children.
A true martial arts school should encompass all the virtues that martial arts represent to genuinely serve the public. Come to our classes and judge for yourself. A sign of a good dojo is not only where where men and women train together as equals but to also see where the lesser absent of females that are normal in Dojos equal to that of the males. In our Dojo you will see equal male and female students in numbers enjoying our Jujutsu.
If something is unclear during training, do not hesitate to ask your fellow practitioners or your instructors.
There are as many ways to experience ShinKenDo as there are students. Through mutual teaching and shared discovery, our unique community elevates each other's understanding and skill. This spirit of collective improvement is a cornerstone of our dojo ".
Daily Life Is The Challenge
" True life happens beyond the dojo floor, not upon the mat. More vital than any victory is the principle of "not being defeated."
The purpose of ShinKenDo JuJutsu transcends physical technique. Through disciplined practice, we forge an unshakeable spirit and resilient body that "cannot be defeated" in daily life—the true arena where our training matters most. On the mat, every challenge is an opportunity for growth. Train with honesty, embrace humility, and learn without ego. Your journey here will strengthen you for what truly matters—at work, at home, in school, and in your heart. Every member of this dojo strives daily in their own profound endeavour, and together we rise.
Whether you are a complete beginner seeking practical self-defense skills, a student looking to expand your repertoire, or even a black belt from another discipline wishing to deepen your understanding of realistic self-defense—there is something in ShinKenDo JuJutsu for you.
Please, step forward with courage and join us in the dojo. Many dedicated and welcoming practitioners await to walk this path alongside you".
I am honoured in having you as my students - Thank You

ShinKenDo JuJutsu - The Way
ShinKenDo JuJutsu: The Way of True Fist, The Path of Peace
A Reflection on Non-Violence, Character, and the Warrior's Heart
The Paradox of the Peaceful Warrior
In the silence between heartbeats, in the space between conflict and resolution, there exists a path walked by few— a way that holds both strength and gentleness, both capability and restraint, both the warrior's skill and the peacemaker's heart.
This is ShinKenDo JuJutsu.
The name itself whispers its truth: Shin — Truth Ken — Fist Do — The Way
The Way of the True Fist. But what is truth in the martial arts? Is it the ability to strike? To overcome? To dominate?
No.
The deepest truth is this: The greatest victory is the one that never requires a blow.
Restraint: The Highest Form of Strength
There is a principle that flows through ShinKenDo JuJutsu like water through ancient stone, shaping everything it touches:
"If the need arose to defend oneself, then restraint rather than hurt. Hurt rather than maim. Maim rather than kill."
This is not weakness. This is not hesitation born of fear.
This is the ultimate expression of mastery— to possess the power to destroy, yet choose instead the path of minimal harm. To hold lightning in your hands and release only what is necessary, nothing more.
Consider the tree that bends in the storm. It does not break because it does not resist with rigid force. It yields, it flows, it remains rooted— and when the storm passes, it stands tall once more.
The practitioner of ShinKenDo JuJutsu becomes like this tree. Strong enough to endure, flexible enough to adapt, wise enough to know that survival without violence is the truest form of victory.
The Transformation of Character
ShinKenDo JuJutsu is not learned only on the mat. It is not practiced only in the dojo. It lives in every moment, in every choice, in every interaction with the world.
When you train in ShinKenDo JuJutsu, you do not merely learn to defend your body. You learn to discipline your mind. You learn to cultivate respect— for your teacher, for your training partners, for those who would oppose you, and most importantly, for yourself.
Discipline emerges naturally when you understand that every technique carries responsibility. The same hand that can cause pain can also protect the innocent. The same strength that can break can also support and uplift.
This awareness changes you.
You walk through the world differently. Your presence becomes calmer, more assured. You do not seek conflict—you have nothing to prove. You do not fear confrontation—you are prepared. But preparation and aggression are not the same.
The disciplined martial artist is like a sheathed sword: formidable, yet silent. Ready, yet still. Capable, yet peaceful.
Respect: The Foundation of All Technique
In ShinKenDo JuJutsu, we bow.
Not out of subservience, but out of profound respect— respect for the tradition that has been passed down, respect for the knowledge we are about to receive, respect for the partner who allows us to practice and grow, respect for the sacred space in which transformation occurs.
This simple gesture—the bow— contains within it the entire philosophy of non-violence.
When you bow to another person, you acknowledge their humanity. You see them not as an enemy, not as a target, but as a fellow traveler on the path of life, worthy of dignity, worthy of care.
Even if circumstances force you to defend yourself, this respect remains. You do not delight in causing pain. You do not celebrate dominance. You do what is necessary with a heavy heart, and no more than is required.
This is the mark of true martial virtue.
The Character of the ShinKenDo JuJutsu Practitioner
What kind of person does ShinKenDo JuJutsu create?
Not a brawler seeking glory in violence. Not a competitor chasing trophies and rankings.
Instead, we cultivate individuals who embody:
Humility — Understanding that technique without wisdom is merely violence, and that true mastery means perpetual learning.
Courage — Not the reckless bravado of those who know no fear, but the deep courage of those who face their fears and choose to act with integrity regardless.
Compassion — Recognizing that everyone carries struggles unseen, and that strength should be used to protect, never to oppress.
Self-control — The ability to remain calm when chaos surrounds you, to think clearly when emotions run high, to choose response over reaction.
Integrity — Living in alignment with the principles practiced on the mat, carrying the martial virtues into every aspect of life.
These qualities do not emerge overnight. They are forged slowly, through countless hours of training, through failures and small victories, through moments of frustration and breakthrough, through the patient guidance of teachers and the supportive challenge of fellow students.
The dojo becomes a crucible in which character is refined.
Non-Violence as the Ultimate Goal
There is a misconception about martial arts— that they exist to teach fighting, to create warriors, to prepare for combat.
This is only the surface.
The deeper truth is that martial arts, when practiced with integrity and wisdom, become a path to peace.
In ShinKenDo JuJutsu, we train rigorously. We practice strikes, locks, throws, defenses. We prepare our bodies and minds for the possibility of conflict.
But we do this so that we may avoid conflict whenever possible, and end it swiftly and mercifully when avoidance fails.
We do not train to become dangerous. We train to become safe— safe for ourselves, safe for those we love, safe even for those who might wish us harm.
The greatest practitioners of ShinKenDo JuJutsu are those who have never needed to use it outside the dojo. Their confidence, their awareness, their calm presence naturally deflects potential violence before it can even begin.
This is the ultimate expression of non-violence: not the absence of capability, but the transcendence of the need for violence.
Creating Peace in a Troubled World
Master Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, taught that martial arts should be a path to harmony, a way to create peace in the world.
ShinKenDo JuJutsu shares this vision.
Every time a practitioner chooses restraint over retaliation, peace expands in the world.
Every time a student develops self-discipline and carries that discipline into their daily life, peace expands in the world.
Every time respect is shown— to a training partner, to a stranger, to oneself— peace expands in the world.
The world changes one person at a time, one choice at a time, one moment of consciousness at a time.
ShinKenDo JuJutsu practitioners become agents of this change. Not through grand gestures or public declarations, but through the quiet, steady cultivation of virtue and wisdom in their own hearts.
The ripples spread outward: A calmer household. A more respectful workplace. A safer community. A more peaceful world.
This is the true power of the martial way.
The Unity of Mind, Body, and Spirit
In ShinKenDo JuJutsu, we do not train only the body.
The techniques we practice require coordination, timing, awareness, sensitivity— all qualities that emerge from a unified self.
When mind, body, and spirit are fragmented, technique becomes mechanical, empty, ineffective.
But when they are unified, something extraordinary happens:
Movement becomes effortless. Awareness becomes panoramic. Response becomes instantaneous. And in that perfect moment of unity, there is no "self" and "other," no "attacker" and "defender"— only flowing energy, only natural resolution, only peace.
This unity is not achieved through force. It emerges through patience, through consistent practice, through letting go of ego and expectation, through simply showing up, again and again, to train with sincerity and humility.
In this way, ShinKenDo JuJutsu becomes not just a self-defense system, but a spiritual practice— a path of self-discovery and transformation.
The Beauty of Minimal Force
There is a profound beauty in techniques that require minimal force, that use an attacker's own energy against them, that redirect rather than clash, that protect both parties from unnecessary harm.
This is the artistry of ShinKenDo JuJutsu.
A small person can neutralize a larger opponent not through superior strength, but through superior understanding— understanding of leverage, balance, momentum, psychology.
This democratizes self-defense. It makes protection accessible to everyone: to the young and the elderly, to women and men, to the physically strong and the physically limited.
And in doing so, it reinforces a fundamental truth:
Violence is not the answer. Intelligence, skill, and compassion are.
When you can defend yourself without relying on brute force, you prove that there is always another way, always a path that honors life, always a choice that preserves dignity.
The Dojo as Sacred Space
The dojo is more than a training hall. It is a sanctuary, a place set apart from the chaos and noise of the world, where transformation can occur.
When you step onto the mat, you leave behind your titles, your possessions, your everyday concerns. You become simply a student, humble and receptive, ready to learn and grow.
In this space, bonds are formed— not through words, but through shared effort, through trusting your partner to train with you safely, through pushing each other to improve, through supporting one another through challenges.
After training, when you share a meal together, when you laugh and talk and rest, the lessons of the mat permeate those moments.
Respect is natural. Kindness flows easily. Hierarchy dissolves into fellowship.
This is the ShinKenDo JuJutsu community— a family forged not by blood, but by shared values and mutual dedication to walking the path together.
Living the Principles
The ultimate test of any martial art is not what happens in the dojo, but what happens outside it.
Do you carry the principles into your daily life?
When someone cuts you off in traffic, do you react with anger or with calm understanding?
When someone speaks harshly to you, do you respond with ego or with measured wisdom?
When you witness injustice, do you turn away or do you act with courage and compassion?
When you have the power to cause harm, do you exercise that power or choose restraint?
These are the real tests. These are the moments that reveal whether you have truly absorbed the teachings, or merely practiced the movements.
ShinKenDo JuJutsu asks you to be conscious, to be intentional, to be better today than you were yesterday, and better tomorrow than you are today.
It is a lifelong journey.
A Message to Future Generations
To those who will walk this path after us, remember:
The techniques you learn are tools, not toys or weapons of ego.
Use them wisely. Use them sparingly. Use them with a heavy heart when you must, and with gratitude that you were prepared when the moment came.
But more importantly, carry the spirit of ShinKenDo JuJutsu wherever you go:
Be kind. Be respectful. Be disciplined. Be humble. Be strong in body, clear in mind, peaceful in spirit.
Be someone who makes the world safer not through fear or intimidation, but through your presence, your example, your unwavering commitment to non-violence and peace.
This is the legacy of ShinKenDo JuJutsu. This is the way of the true fist. This is the path we walk together.
In Closing
In the end, ShinKenDo JuJutsu is about choice.
The choice to train when it would be easier to rest. The choice to show respect when disrespect is easier. The choice to protect rather than destroy. The choice to grow rather than stagnate. The choice to pursue peace even when conflict surrounds you.
Every day, in every moment, you are choosing who you become.
May your choices reflect the highest virtues of the martial way. May your strength be tempered with compassion. May your skill be guided by wisdom. May your life be a testament to the power of non-violence.
And may peace, true and lasting peace, begin in your own heart, and radiate outward to touch all beings.
This is ShinKenDo JuJutsu. This is the way.
With deep respect for all who walk this path, and in service to peace for all beings.
