Dojo Etiquette

1-  開始時刻の 15 分前にクラスに到着し、着替えてクラスの準備をします。
1-  Arrive to Class 15 minutes before start time, changed and ready for class.
       (later arrivals should wait in 'Seiza' until the Sensei has granted you permission to join class)

2-  道場への出入りは、お辞儀をする必要があります。
2-  When entering and leaving the dojo, it is necessary to bow. 

3- 真剣道の漢字の道衣のみを着用する
     女性は道衣の下に白いTシャツ/ベストを着用してください
     男性は道衣の下に T シャツを着用しないでください

     Wear only a dogi (uniform) with shinkendo kanji  
     Women to wear a white t-shirt  vest under their dogi
     Men NO t-shirts, vest etc to be worn under their dogi


4-  授業中にガムを食べたり噛んだりしないでください。
4-   Do not eat or chew gum during class. 

5-   トレーニングの前にすべてのジュエリーを外してください。
5-   Remove all jewellery before training.

6-   結んで留める長い髪
6-   Long hair to be tied and kept back

7-  先生が指示を出すときは話さないでください。
7-   Do not talk when the Sensei gives instruction .

8-  集中力と真剣な態度で練習する
8-   Work with an attitude of serious and complete concentration. Do not be disruptive in class. Do not talk, laugh or giggle.

9-  常にすべての仲間のメンバーに敬意を払う
9-   Always show respect to all fellow members

10- 技を見せた後は必ず先生にお辞儀をする
10- Always bow to Sensei after you have been showed a technique.

11- お問い合わせ/質問については、先生があなたに近づくように合図しないでください.自分で  彼に近づき、彼があなたの話を聞く準備ができるまで待ちます。
11- For enquiries/questions do not ask a Sensei to approach you. Raise your        hand or approach the Sensei

12 一時的にクラスを離れたい場合は、先生にその旨を伝えてください。
(稽古道場を10分以上欠席した生徒は、先生または先輩(先輩)が生徒の安否を確認するために電話をかけます。)
12- If you wish to temporarily leave the class please bring this to the attention of the Sensei. 
(Students absent from the training dojo for longer than 10 minutes, will have Sensei or a Senior (Sempai) calling in to check if the student is okay.)


 

  1. All greetings are said by the word OSU which is a common martial art greeting, it is pronounced load and clear. OSU is a mark of respect to dojo and can be used to show the instructor that you understand what he/she said and should always be used instead of yes.
     

  2. Students to stand in line according to rank (When facing the class lower grades to the Sensei’s right with the most seniors to the Sensei’s left)
     

  3. Upon the Sensei’s verbal or physical explanation students should stand in “Fudo Dachi”(Attention Stance)
     

  4. The Most Senior Black Belt student addresses class and say “bow to Sensei”  (Japanese: Sensei Ni Rei) at the start and end of class
     

  5. If at any time during the training the student requires to adjust his/her (Dogi) uniform or obi (belt) they must turn facing the rear of the class and adjust his/her uniform
     

  6. Assist fellow members by laying down and storing mats
     

  7. Offer assistance to those in need
     

  8. No Sparring without supervision
     

  9. Refrain from loud talking, laughing or screaming in the Dojo
     

  10. Do not “What if ” any instructor
     

  11. Do not become upset or angry in the Dojo
     

  12. Asking Questions not relevant to what is being taught is not allowed
     

  13. If a student must stop training during a session, they must report to the Sensei or the most senior student
     

  14. Report to the sensei prior to class if you have to leave early.
     

  15. No student is allowed to leave the dojo without first asking the instructor.
     

  16. In the dojo, always show good manners and listen carefully to the instructor’s directions. Do not waste your time and treat your training seriously.







注: 学生は技術だけでなく、行動、規律、武術の発達についても調べられます。
等級ごとに受験料がかかる
茶帯の格付けは3ヶ月ごとに行われます。 (2月、5月、8月、11月終了)
茶帯から黒帯までの試験は6か月ごとに行われます。
3段までの黒帯試験を年1回実施
黒帯三段~五段の試験は2年ごとに実施
黒帯五段以上の試験は3年ごとに行われます。

Note Students are examined not only on technique but also
 conduct, discipline and martial character development.
For each grade there is an Examination Fee
Grading under brown belt are conducted every 3 months.   (Feb, May, Aug. and Nov. ending)
Brown to black belt examination are held every 6 months. 
Black Belt examination up to 3rd Dan are held once yearly
Black Belt 3rd Dan to 5th Dan examinations are held every 2 years
Black Belt 5th Dan and over examinations are held every 3 years.


1- 学生は、成績の資格を得る前に、20 のレッスンまたは 30 時間のトレーニングを完了する必要があります。
1- Students must complete 20 lessons or 30 hours of training before qualifying to grade.

2- テストや昇進を決して要求しないでください。先生は、生徒が採点の資格を得ると、生徒に通知します。
2- Never request to be tested or promoted. The Sensei will inform students when they are qualified to grade.

3- 試験中は相談したり話したりしないでください。
3-Do not confer or talk throughout the exam.

4 一時的にグレードエリアを離れたい場合は、先生に知らせてください。
4- If you wish to temporarily leave the grade area please bring this to the attention of the Sensei.

5-着席した受験者は、道場を歩き回って採点試験を妨害しないでください。
5- For seated examinees, do not disrupt the grading exam by walking around and out of the Dojo

6- 不合格の採点は 2 週間後に再審査されます
6- A failed grading will be reseated 2 weeks later

7- 採点結果のクラスに参加してください。欠席すると成績が取り消される場合があります。
7- Attend class for the result of your grading. Non attendance may have your  grade revoked.

8- 事前の通知なしに成績試験に出席しなかった場合、次回予定されている成績評価で試験を受けることになります。
8- Failure to attend a grade examination with no prior notice will result in being examined  at the next scheduled grading assessment. 

9- 先生の許可がない限り、カメラや写真撮影は禁止されています

 No cameras or photography allowed unless authorised by your Sensei

10- 観客または受験者は、黒帯試験に立ち会うことはできません
10- No spectators or examinees allowed to witness a Black Belt examination

11- 試験の 1 週間前までにすべての採点料を支払う
11- All grading fees payable 1 week prior to exam

Instructors Grading Criteria.
1st Dan and 2nd Dan examine students up to Brown Belt
3rd Dan examine up to 1st Dan
4th Dan examine up to 2nd Dan
5th Dan examined up to 3rd Dan
6th Dan examined up to 4th Dan
7th Dan examined up to 5th Dan
8th Dan examined up to 6th Dan

Note: Honoury grades are issued to Instructors 3rd Dan and over for contribution to the art and  exceeding grading duration
